Fireworks

Made of potassium chlorate to supply O2 and flammables like starch or petroleum derivatives to combine with the O2 making heat and light. Salts of strontium, copper & sodium produce the colors that appear. The fireworks produce heat and colorful lights usually in the sky. Nothing dissolves in fireworks, but there are reactions in fireworks. Fireworks are made as missiles to launch in the sky and produce bursts of color.

Paper

 

Paper is highly flammable. So when paper catches on fire of will turn to ash. When paper gets wet there is not much you can do with it. Unless you let it dry out. When paper is wet it becomes damp and soggy. It is easy to tear and rip up. Paper is used so much in modern time. It is most used for/at schools, buisnesses, and offices. If we keep using paper like we do now, the price of paper will increase. We keep using trees for paper and are losing trees. People should start using technology instead of paper.

Periodic Table

Past: Before I watched this video I knew that Dmitri Mendaleeve had some part in helping make the Periodic Table. The table also was separated into different groups/columns. Ordered by Atomic Number. Metal and gasses are in different groups.

Present: I learned that you can combine elements and make new elements. I learned that Chlorine was used as a weapon. But now it's used for pools. There are man made atoms.

Future: I liked the part of the video where they talked about Chlorine and how it was used as a weapon. I'd like to learn more about gold.

Car/street safety

In cars safety has improved over time. Now of days cars are really safe. The driver and passengers seatbelt themselves so they don't fly out of the windshield while suddenly stopping/slowing down. If a car crashes an airbag is deployed so you don't hit anything. It helps other driver to use turn signals and blinkers. It's allows them to know to let you over if your switching lanes or to let your turn if you are going to turn. It always helps to have new wheels for better traction so if it's wet and icy and the road you don't slide around and hit another car or anything. You should always go the speed limit so you don't endanger any other drivers. Always stop at red lights. Always wait for people to walk across the cross walk.

Ivanpah

The Ivanpah Solar Eletric Generating System is owned by NRG Energy. Ivanpah is the largest Solar thermal power tower in the world. It's located in Ivanpah Dry Lake, California. The Ivanpah tower can power more than 140,000 homes. Construction was great it gave 2,100 people jobs. The add on they're going to build is going to cost $2.2 million. The add on will be put on approxiemntly 3,500 acres on public desert land. The Ivanpah add on will provide more mirrors to reflect light to the focal point. They Ivanpah kills birds and sometimes crashes planes because of the light. The light is so bright and blinds and burns the birds. The light also blinds pilots of planes and causes them to crash.
